More Freesat boxes get BBC iPlayer
Thursday, April 1st, 2010The on demand service iPlayer from the BBC is now available on Freesat high definition set-top boxes manufactured by Bush, Grundig and Goodmans. Electricpig has confirmed that most models will have received a download application, providing that the box is connected to the internet. Give the red button a click, and after about 40 minutes you should be ready to start demanding your favourite BBC radio and TV programmes.
We have been warned that some boxes will not accept the upgrade, in which case Freesat customers should call Harvard (the parent company of all three manufacturers) on 0871 230 4695 for a replacement. The slightly bad news is that you will have to fork out £14.99.
BBC iPlayer is already available to Freesat customers through Humax and Sagem Freesat+ boxes, Humax HD and Technisat HD boxes and Sony HD-ready TVs. The increased coverage and availability of the iPlayer will be a massive boost to both the BBC and its millions of Eastenders fans.
